Thatha and the Magic Grain

Thatha found his magic grain!

It was under his laundry of course! Thatha possessed all of 2 dhotis and 2 kurtas.. besides his stick and his books and his magic grain. It is just the Thatha-of-Now, really did not care at all about the Thatha-of-Later.. especially now-a-days.. not that he ever really did. And so he just made a pile of his laundry and the magic grain was investigating it. Ravi had been asking for stories and what with Tridant and Ila and all the rest demanding stories too, Thatha had to find the magic grain.

So he started cleaning up and putting away and there it was! He was so glad to find it that he sang a beautiful song about the sounds of cows grazing grass and water dripping into pots.

It was a song about silence and soft sounds and Ravi loved it. Also, Thatha singing meant that stories would follow for sure. Ila and Tridant were very happy as also the fierce little boy who stole all the colours.

And of course all this makes Amma very happy!!

Thatha misplaced the magic grain!

Thatha was sad and upset.. he couldn’t find the magic grain. He couldn’t tell any new stories.

Where did that magic grain go?

Well, there is nothing for it but to put everything in order and look everywhere. Then maybe Thatha can find his magic grain and then we can get on with the story…

The flute player and the drummer

Tatha’s magic Grain could do many things. It could make astrophysicists out of fly eaters and musicians out of astrophysicists.

Moles are natural drummers, so the magic grain did not have to work hard.

Do frogs and moles fit in? Of course they do!

Naturally I want to know what Tom does when he is not drumming on weekends.

Maybe he is busy turning a blind eye towards the frog’s eating habits. Maybe he is learning to play the flute.. Or Maybe he tells stories and writes songs.

Mostly I think frog and mole play games on weekdays and play music on weekends.

What do you think?

Amma loves Stories

When Amma was a little girl, she spent as much time as she could listening to stories and reading them.

She was completely transported into a world of magical and imaginary characters.

That’s why she likes to write and tell stories!

Kanna would get a new story from Kahani Lake, through Amma every day! What a happy boy he was.

Shhh! This is a magical tree at a magical time. This is the exact sort of tree that Dragins and Dragons are fond of.

This is probably the very tree under which Ravi met the Dragon.

Siddhu was a very good friend to have and a very good friend to make. He made very good friends too.

This is the friend he made with the magic dust that Ravi’s dragon gave him. He hasn’t made a name for his friend yet though. Can you think of a good one?

Once upon a night in a faraway land, the clouds covered all the stars. The little people got out their pointed rain hats and came out for a chat. The streetlights were on and so were the bonfires.

They shopped and chatted and warmed themselves, waiting for the clouds to clear so that they could see the moon and the stars.

They became very good at these things but they always thought that the movement of clouds was random.

“I am really good at this” Cothi said! ” I can see that,” I agreed, “What are you typing?”

” A story of course! ” he said, “It has do with Thathas and magic grains and little boys”.

“I think I already wrote that story,” I said, “And it is a really good one!”.

“Then, I shall finish the dragon and his boy”, Cothi said.

“That would be awfully nice of you, thank you” , I said.

Then Thimma came along… “See what I can do!” he said.

“That’s really neat, what are you writing?” I asked. “Poetry!”, he said.

“Wow! that’s so nice! I can always use a good poem on Thatha and the Magic Grain, thank you”, I said.
